Justin Coble joined Amsted Rail in 2004 shortly after graduating high school. His father worked at the company as an electrician, and Justin was drawn to the family-oriented environment and the opportunity to build a future while learning something new every day. What began as a chance to earn a paycheck and buy his first house quickly became a long-term career that has now spanned two decades.
Today, Justin leads both the heat treat operations department and the maintenance team. In his role, he focuses on delivering strong operational performance with an emphasis on safety, along with quality and production.
Justin’s career path reflects the many growth opportunities available at Amsted Rail. He started in an entry-level inspector role before moving into operations, where he developed technical skills and advanced through positions including setup technician, shift lead and supervisor. Over the years, those experiences helped prepare him for broader leadership responsibilities.
He credits much of his success to mentors, training opportunities and leaders who supported his growth along the way. Through programs like On Track mentorship and Operations Academy, Justin has expanded his leadership skills, strengthened his business knowledge and built relationships across the broader Amsted organization.
“There will always be opportunities. Keep your head up, keep doing the job and your chance will come.”
For Justin, the most rewarding part of leadership is helping others grow. He takes pride in developing employees, supporting their progress and helping people build careers rather than simply holding a job.
He also enjoys the fast-paced nature of manufacturing, where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to improve processes, solve problems and work closely with the team.
“What makes me love my job is working with people and the fact that every day is different.”
Justin says his greatest motivation is his family. Much of what he works toward professionally is driven by a desire to create opportunities for his wife and children and provide them with a strong future.
Looking ahead, Justin is excited by innovation, new processes and finding safer, better ways to operate as Amsted Rail continues to grow. He believes the company’s commitment to developing people and its employee ownership culture position it for long-term success.
At Amsted Rail, we take pride in our rich culture of innovation and ownership that has propelled us to the forefront of the industry. Our employees are our greatest asset, and we are committed to creating a work environment that offers everyone the chance for success, growth and happiness—on and off the job.
