Testing
Though the Spring Control CCSB is designed to
go well beyond a million miles, a recent tear down and inspection
revealed a Spring Control bearing that retained its performance
through more than three million miles of service.
While we can't guarantee that kind of performance from every
Spring Control CCSB, we can't say we're suprised by it.
Service Testing in Lab - Per M-948-77
The Spring Control Side Bearing was subjected to a million
cycle endurance test. This is stated in M-948 to equate to
approximately 375,000 miles.
This chart shows that the reduction of preload force was less
than 2% as compared to the initial load.
