Dear Mr. Shannon:

        I am pleased to inform you that the Wheels, Axles, Bearings and Lubrication Committee found favorably on your request.  The Committee has granted unconditional approval of Brenco's Generation 2000 roller bearing.  They have however deferred approval of the Class L design pending successful completion of hotbox detector scannability tests, and the Class M design pending clarification issues related to the load rating of the bearing.

    As with the conditional approval, application of Generation 2000 Roller Bearings to UIC and UniTruck 2 and 3 designs is prohibited.
