SUBJECT: Premium Roller Bearing Reconditioning Standards
TO: The Member and Private Car Owners Roller Bearing Manufacturers and Reconditioners
TWBL - 24
MC-WABL
(c-8295)
AAR Circular Letter D.V. 2207 dated September 27, 1994, outlined changes to the minimum roller bearing reconditioning standards for allowable mounted lateral and allowable cone face wear with an effective date of January 1, 1995.
The Wheels, Axles, Bearings and Lubrication (WABL) Subcommittee has received and reviewed comments from roller bearing reconditioners and component remanufacturers with respect to the implementation of the new requirements for reconditioned bearings and remanufactured components. As a result of the foregoing, the WABL Subcommittee has agreed that the new requirements will remain effective on January 1, 1995 for those shops able to completely comply. To ensure an orderly transition and to purge old inventories, effective May 1, 1995 all bearings reconditioned or components remanufactured must comply with the new requirements for maximum mounted lateral and maximum allowable cone face wear respectively.
Please forward comments to the Director - Freight Car Construction and Components, 50 F Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20001
Sincerely,
Leavitt A. Peterson
