The latest change of the Manual of Standards and Recommended Practices Section G - Part II dates February 1, 1994 included a revision to Rule 1A8 which requires magnetic particle testing of journal portions of new axles before remounting.

This is notification that in order to provide sufficient advance opportunity to implement procedures to accomplish this requirement, the revision pertaining to new axles being magnetic particle tested will become a mandatory requirement effective January 1, 1995.
